Night curfew imposed in EGH amid COVID concern

TURA, Jan 6: As a precaution against the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 into the district, night curfew has been imposed in the entire district of East Garo Hills by the District Administration.

 According to the order issued in this regard under section 144 CrPC together with regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Disease, Covid -19 Regulations 2020, by Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe, the entire district will come under Night Curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM each day until notified otherwise.

 The order also restricted all Official, Public and Political gatherings while Weddings continue to be permitted at 50% of the capacity in an enclosed space and maximum of 100 persons for open spaces.

 Similarly, Funerals are also permitted subject to a ceiling of 50 persons. The order also made it mandatory for all persons entering the state including those fully vaccinated to produce an RTPCR negative report valid 72 hours at the entry point or to undergo a mandatory RTPCR test at the entry point.
