State referees, judges felicitated by M’laya karate federation

SHILLONG, Jan 6: The founder of the Meghalaya State Karate-Do Federation (MSKDF), an affiliate of the Karate India Organization (KIO), Donny R Ranee on Wednesday, felicitated a total of 9 referees and judges from the state after they passed the test from the KIO Referee Course of Exam of the World Karate Federation rules version 2020 conducted online by the Karate India Organization on November 30, 2021.
Daniel Warjri, head of the MSKDF Referee Commission and Yatha Chyrmang passed as Grade A Referees while seven members passed as judges in A Grade. The seven judges include Berin Klein, Paulus Khongshei, Vikash Rana, Francis R Songthiang, Lamphrang Kharsahnoh, Pritam Debnath and Elton Skhemlang Swer.
The KIO had organised its annual general meeting in New Delhi on December 29, 2021 with the participation of 25 representatives from across the country.
The meeting discussed the future development of karate in the country besides appointing various incharges for different commissions to all the important heads from different states to control and run future KIO activities.
Further, The KIO has urged the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to speed up its recognition in accordance with the Olympic charter Rule 28.
Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, the MSKDF has informed that it will not be taking part in the upcoming 1st KIO North East Zone Karate Championship scheduled to be held at Khumanlampak, in Imphal, Manipur.
