Author gets ‘Woman of the Year Award’

SHILLONG, Jan 9: Renowned author Minimon Laloo has been awarded with the ‘Woman of the Year Award 2021’ conferred by the Home of Letters (India), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in appreciation of the works and contributions towards the society and achievement in personal  life in the field of Literature, Education, Art, Culture et al.
Besides writing Khasi books, she also wrote ‘Meghalaya GK (India/Global)’ which was published annually. Some of her other achievement include — as a philatelist, Minimon partook in an exhibition and won prizes at the district-level and state level (MEGHAPEX); as an amateur photographer, she had won prizes at the exhibition from the Arts and Culture and Tourism departments; and she even acted and was a dialogue writer in Khasi films.
She was also a Playwright and Performer in a ‘One Act’ short play called ‘U NongKñia bad Ka Mem Bilat’ (extracted from the book Ha Jylli ka Rynsan). A novel of hers ‘Ngam Banse’ and ‘Ki Khana Lyngkot’ (short stories) was documented by Doordarshan Shillong and aired through its channel.
‘U Men Khapnap’ (from the book ‘Ha Jylli ka Rynsan’) was played in the All India Radio through Jaintia Programme as ‘U Ma Syngit’.
She was also associated with many organisations such as Meghalaya State Council for Child Welfare, All India Poetess Conference (UP), Poetry Society India (Delhi), Sein Jaintia, etc.
