Mob assaults four at Mawsynram

SHILLONG, Jan 16: Police have begun investigation into a case where four youths from Upper Shillong were allegedly assaulted by a mob which accused them of being Menshohnoh (practitioners of black magic) at Trongpleng in Mawsynram on Saturday night.
A video of the alleged attack has gone viral on social media.
When contacted, a senior police said they were investigating the case and no arrest has been made so far.
It may be mentioned that four persons coming from Laitumsaw were accosted by the villagers who asked them to stop their vehicle.
The occupants sped away from the scene but the villagers managed to corner them at Trongpleng and assaulted them after accusing them of practicing witchcraft. The four victims managed to flee and reached Mawsynram police station where they filed an FIR.
