CISF personnel commits suicide in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 20: A 51-year-old CISF Additional Sub-Inspector allegedly committed suicide in his barrack in Outer North Delhi’s Bhorgarh by hanging himself from the ceiling, an official said on Thursday.

A senior police official said that they got a call on Wednesday around 9.35 p.m. A team of Delhi Police officials from Narela Industrial Area Police Station was immediately sent to the CISF barracks.

“We got the call that one ASI Praveen Kumar of CISF has committed suicide and need police. SI Rohit from PS -NIA alongwith SHO visited the spot and found that the said ASI had had committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan using light bedsheets as ligature material in the new barrack CISF campus,” said a senior police official.

The police moved him to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.

The deceased ASI Praveen Kumar was a resident of Sonepat in Haryana. He joined CISF as Head Constable (Driver). After promotion, he came in the Executive Cadre.

On Wednesday, Praveen was deployed at the security of Rohini sector 18 Metro Station.

“After returning from duty he had taken his meal from the mess. In the evening when the mess in-charge went to deliver the dinner and found his room closed from inside. They called him several times but when Praveen didn’t open the door they decided to break open the door. The staff found his body hanging from the ceiling and called the police,” said the police official.

The crime team also visited the crime spot. The police said that they didn’t find any suicide note from the possession of the deceased, and so far no foul play was suspected.

The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. His family was informed about his suicide. The police said that on Thursday evening the postmortem will be conducted after his family arrived. Further probe in the matter was underway. (IANS)
