Winmark win CM’s Day/Night Cup

Tura, Jan 31: Winmark, one of the firm favourites to win the title, did not disappoint its legion of fans, lifting the Chief Minister’s Day Night cricket tournament after defeating Sq Ft by 99 runs in a one-sided final, here on Sunday.
The final saw the attendance of Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma besides a huge crowd thronging the Police Parade Ground in Tura.
The final was played under floodlights with Winmark, winning its fourth title and taking home the first prize of Rs 3 lakhs. The runners up went home richer by Rs 1 lakh.
The match began at 9 pm on Jan 30. The final was a 15-over affair and featured 9 players in each side.
Winmark batted first and posted a mammoth 201 in their allotted overs.
In reply, Sq Ft were bundled out for 102. Winmark’s Sanu was the man of the match for his match winning knock of 113 not out.
The tournament was organized by Amra Sobai, a Tura based club in association with the Chief Minister.
Over 90 teams took part in the event, played over the course of two weeks.
