IOCL delay in setting up LPG bottling unit irks govt

SHILLONG, Feb 9: The state government has expressed anguish over the delay by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in setting up an LPG bottling unit in the state.
A submission was made before the High Court of Meghalaya on behalf of IOCL that consultants have been appointed to inspect the area and to submit a report.
The Court was hearing a PIL on matters pertaining to distribution of LPG cylinders in Meghalaya.
The state expressed its anguish that the unit has not been set up yet despite it being agreed in principle in 2019 that the unit would be in place by 2021.
The Court said that the matter will appear four weeks hence.
“It is hoped that a report would be obtained and preliminary steps for setting up of the unit taken by the time the matter is taken up next,” the Court order said.
The matter has been listed on March 11, 2022.
