Shillong, Feb 14: Hundreds of people from across the five districts of Garo Hills Region took to the streets of Tura on Feb 14 to protest against the appointment of Rakesh A. Sangma as the CEM of GHADC.

The protestors took out a rally and shouted slogans like “Long Live Garoland”.

Garo Hills-based NGOs have been protesting against Sangma’s appointment as CEM for the past few weeks.

The protestors maintain that Sangma’s identity as an indigenous Garo is doubtful and demanded his immediate removal from the post.
