FLW ’22: Mawphlang children get school bags

SHILLONG, Feb 16: As part of the Financial Literacy Week 2022, the Reserve Bank of India Shillong, on Wednesday, distributed school bags to some children in Mawphlang village during a Financial Literacy Camp organised by Punjab National Bank-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (PNB-RSETI), East Khasi Hills Camp at its premise with the trainees on the theme ‘Go Digital, Go Secure’.
The bags had financial literacy messages pertaining to the theme embedded in the bags for wider dissemination of the messages.
A presentation was given by the officials of RBI Shillong on the theme of the programme wherein various types of digital transactions were highlighted, advantage of digital transactions were explained as well as the dos and don’ts of digital transactions and necessary precautions to be taken during digital transactions. The participants were also made aware of various online frauds and precautions to be taken in that regard.
The Director of RSETI, Jacqueline Nongkhlaw, explained the various aspects of digital banking and also addressed the participants on the need for financial literacy to achieve meaningful financial inclusion.
The programme was attended by Souvik Nag, Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Banlam Jingshai Nongbri, Assistant, RBI, Shillong, and Kamalendu Roy, Lead District Manager, Lead Bank Scheme, East Khasi Hills, and representative from MSRLS Rajesh Sohmat (Block Project Manager) along with the community cadre of Mawphlang BMMU.
