SHILLONG, Feb 18: The state government has awarded four of the five MLAs, who recently pledged their support to NPP-led MDA coalition government, with plum posts of Co-Chairman of different government agencies in the state.
According to a government notification which was issued on Thursday, Mohendro Rapsang and PT Sawkmie have been made co-chairman of the Meghalaya New and Renewable Energy Development Agency with perks and facilities under Category “A+”.
It may be recalled that five Congress MLAs — PT Sawkmie, Mohendro Rapsang, Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mayralborn Syiem and Kimfa Marabaniang — had extended their support to the MDA Government in the state.
Further, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem was given the post of Co-Chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Kimfa Marbaniang has been made Co-Chairman of Meghalaya Government Construction Company (MGCC).
Nevertheless, Mayralborn Syiem, when contacted, said that he is not aware about this decision of the government.
Sources also said that Malki-Laitumkhrah MDC, John Fantin Lakadong, has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the MGCC.
Sources also said that it is not known what assignment will be given to Ampareen Lyngdoh, as she is reportedly holding discussions with the Chief Minister on the matter.
