TURA, Feb 18: A three-day coaching programme on ‘Fish Smoking Kiln: A Post Harvest Preservation Technique’ was concluded recently at the KVK office in Megagre village of East Garo Hills.
The programme which was sponsored by ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology included lecture series, demonstration and practical lessons on the newly-received fish smoking kiln units of KVK. A total of 20 participants from different parts of the district attended the training programme.
During the training, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Dr Brijendra Singh Rajawat advised the trainees to adopt this technology for bulk production of smoked fish over complete traditional methods to uplift their income.
Several resource persons from the Fisheries department namely, Anjuna A Sangma (Fishery Demonstrator), Matgrik B Marak (Multi Service Provider) and Kharansingh N Marak (Multi Service Provider) spoke about different schemes available for fish production and preservation.
