‘Govt will try to get Garrison Ground back’

SHILLONG, March 7: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, on Monday, said that the state government wants the Garrison Ground back and will try to get it back.
Reacting to a query, the chief minister pointed out that this has been a prolonged issue and the government is working on it although there are complications with it not being a simple exercise.
Reacting to a query about frequent confrontation between civilians and army personnel in Mawshbuit Army gate, he said that he has recently submitted a letter to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
“I will also take up the matter with the local officials of the army and try to resolve the issues,” the chief minister said.
