Office-bearers
The Constituency Committee of 17-North Shillong of the United Democratic Party (UDP) was constituted on Thursday. The new office-bearers are Joe Marwein (president), Ohio Suting (general secretary), Allantry F Dkhar (chief adviser) besides 35 executive members. The Committee was confirmed and administered the oath by the party’s working president, Paul Lyngdoh, and the finance secretary, Michael War.
Resignation
Two leaders of the Mawlai Block Congress Committee (MBCC), also members of the Mawlai Constituency People’s Forum (MCPF), have resigned from the party. The two leaders are Raja Collin Roy Kharsyntiew, vice president of MBCC and MCPF, and Kordor Roy Sohtun, publicity secretary of MBCC and MCPF.
PDS quota
The Sub-Divisional Officer (Supply), Sohra Civil Sub-Division, has released PDS rice at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg for AAY card holders and at the scale of 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg for PHH card holders for the month of March. For non-NFSA card holders, the distribution will be made at a scale of 7.215 kg per card at a rate fixed by the Vigilance Committee, not exceeding Rs 15 per kg. In addition, rice for free of cost under PMGKAY has also been released at the scale of 5 kg per head for AAY and PHH card holders.
Notice
West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has directed arms license holders to produce their licence along with residential certificate from their respective headman, EPIC and two passport-size photographs. It was also informed that the arms licences that have not been allotted a unique identification number (UIN) will be deemed invalid with immediate effect.
Prayer meet
The All Saints’ Cathedral Diocese of North East India, Church of North India, will organise a special prayer meeting of all churches in Shillong to pray for an end to the war and restoration of peace in Ukraine. The prayer meet will be held at 9:30 am in All Saints’ Cathedral on Friday.
