SHILLONG, March 17: Making an attempt to decongest the city roads, especially in view of the traffic jams during morning hours due to schools, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has decided to conduct a trial run for a “one way in and around Laitumkhrah and Dhankheti circuit” between 7.30 am and 9 am on March 21 and 22, to check the feasibility of the trial rule.
In a statement, the STP said that vehicles coming from Malki point, Upper Lachumiere, and proceeding towards Fire Brigade point via St. Edmunds School road, would now have to go towards Don Bosco via Laitumkhrah Police Point — Seventh Day Adventist junction.
There will be no entry for vehicles coming from Fire Brigade point via St. Edmund’s School road and wanting to proceed towards Upper Lachumiere, the statement said.
Whereas, vehicles arriving from Nongthymmai-Jingkieng and wanting to proceed towards Laitumkhrah via Seventh Day Adventist junction will have to head towards St. Edmunds School road — Dhankheti, it added.
