City cabbies receive free eye check-up, spectacles

SHILLONG, March 25: With an objective to provide local tourist and taxi drivers a comprehensive eye examination, Bansara Eye Care Centre, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong supported by Umpohliew Central Warehouse, conducted a free eye screening camp on Thursday during which drivers were provided medicines and spectacles free of cost.
According to a statement in this regard, as many as 83 people benefitted from the eye screening camp.
The programme was attended by the president of Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong, Monica Chanda, eye specialists from Bansara Eye Care Centre, among other officials.
Bishwajit Choudhary, a cabbie who was part of the eye screening camp, expressed his gratitude and hoped that many other drivers too will benefit from the camp.
