Public awareness, healthcare services mark EKH health mela

SHILLONG, March 26: Immunisation, free check-ups and medicines, and public awareness on various healthcare schemes were part of a health mela, which was organised by the Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills, at Diengiei PHC.
According to a statement, the health mela was attended by health officials, local legislators, headmen, ASHA workers, et al.
During the health mela, emphasis was made on child immunsation and timely check-up of pregnant women.
Locals were also informed about Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) day, which is conducted on 9th of every month to provide medical check-up and counselling to pregnant women.
Awareness was also raised on Integrated Child Development Scheme, Poshan Pakhwada, among other healthcare schemes and services.
“Child immunisation, COVID vaccination, lab test and investigation, and free medicine were provided during the mela,” the statement said.
Poster and quiz competitions were also organised for schoolchildren during the health mela.
