Storm damages houses, uproots trees in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT, March 27: A cyclonic storm accompanied with rainfall spelled trouble for residents in different parts of South West Khasi Hills, especially in Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, as strong winds damaged several houses and even uprooted trees.
The storm and rain lashed parts of the district from 6 PM to midnight on Saturday. Fortunately, no instances of injury or loss of life were reported.
It was also learned that many houses in Daggar-Balat area, especially in Lalpani, Pynden Borsora and Dangardop, were also hit by the cyclone. Reportedly, nine families have been affected in the incident besides damages suffered by the houses of Ritha Sangma, Beguni Sangma, Nicelinda Marak, Sengbi Marak, Drosila Marak, Salman Marak, Laloo Bormon, Nithai Bormon and Nichand Bormon.
Apart from them, several more houses suffered minor damages.
