NONGPOH, April 5: Sitting Congress MDC from Nongpoh constituency Balajied Rani, along with his supporters, were on Tuesday welcomed with open arms by top leaders of United Democratic Party (UDP) during a function at Umwang, Ri-Bhoi.
Speaking at the function, Rani said his decision to join the UDP was taken after due consultations and deliberations. He also accused Congress of neglected them despite their efforts to bolster the party.
Rani said that several other former Congress Youth and Mahila leaders have also expressed their willingness to support the UDP for the 2023 Assembly elections.
The programme was also attended by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, general secretary Jemino Mawthoh, adviser Bindo Lanong, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla, and others.
