NEW DELHI, April 8: Shillong MP Vincent H Pala on Friday met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong with an appeal for immediate construction of a bridge over Testar river at Kympa Masi in Jaintia Hills and a link road, while maintaining that doing so will not only benefit the villagers but also hundreds of Lakadong turmeric farmers from remote area.
Pala was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Dr WR Kharlukhi during the meeting with  Tynsong, who also is the in charge of PWD (Roads).
This bridge, if constructed, will connect Raliang Elaka and Sumer Elaka, and benefit Saipung and Sutnga Elakas.
A bridge over Testar river will also shorten a distance of over 70 kms for the people of Sumer and Raliang Elakas, Pala said.
The missing link road from Lakadong-Kseh PMGSY to Mooriap and Lakasein PMGSY, on the other hand, will immensely benefit more than 40,000 farmers in the areas, Pala said.
