Shillong can have camps for Indian team, says Md Azharuddin

SHILLONG, April 8: One of the most successful Indian Test captain, Mohammad Azharuddin has stated that Shillong with such a setting and amazing weather can even have camps for the Indian national team.
Azharuddin, who is in Shillong scheduled to attend the finals of the MCA Senior Men Challengers Cup in Shillong on Saturday, told a group of journalists the city with its lovely setting and weather could host can have future camps for the Indian team.
The batting legend said that if Shillong has a camp for the Indian team, it would have big impact when players of international repute come here.
The former Test skipper, who played in 99 Tests, commented that the overall cricket scenario in the North East is good now as all the states are now full members of BCCI, and therefore he expects that cricket should grow in the state and in the region.
He expressed optimism that in future Meghalaya will produce cricketers who would to represent in the international level.
Stressing on the need to develop good infrastructure, he added that once the state will have good facilities, everything will fall in place. He further asked the government to give a land to the MCA for building a cricket stadium.
