South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai has extended a financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh, sanctioned under discretionary grant for the year 2022-23, to three voluntary institutions. According to a statement the beneficiaries — St. John’s Catholic Church Cultural Committee, Laban, Hanuman Jayanti Utsav Samity, Luckier Road, and Cantonment Harijan Hindi Fellowship Church — have received Rs 50,000 each for organising various social and welfare programmes for students, youths and the public for 2022.

Holiday
South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Caramai Kharkongor, has declared April 18 as holiday in the district on account of Shad Suk Mynsiem of the Seng Khasi. In this regard, all state government offices, revenue and magisterial courts as well as educational institutes within the district shall remain shut on the aforementioned date.

Office-bearers
Dorbar Shnong Umsaw Mawjynrong has elected new office-bearers for 2022-2023. Rapborlang Mawthoh was elected as the Rangbah Shnong while Tynshai Mawthoh was elected as the secretary.
