Health melas in NGH, SGH & WKH

TURA/NONGSTOIN, April 21: Block health melas were organised in Resubelpara, Baghmara and Nongstoin on Thursday, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence and to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centre in the state.
According to a statement, the programme at Resubelpara was organised in Manikgang Secondary School. In his address as the chief guest, Deputy Speaker and local MLA, Timothy D Shira urged the community to make use of the health services that are provided free of cost.
Informing the public of the availability of COVID vaccines for children in the 12-15 years age group, Shira asked all eligible beneficiaries to get vaccinated. He also highlighted the advantage of MHIS and pressed the gathering to enrol under the scheme and avail its benefits.
Blood pressure screening, anaemia screening, oral dental care, gynae – obstetrics care, paediatric care, COVID vaccination, and mental health care were some of the health services that were provided to the locals during the mela.
In Baghmara, the programme was held at Emangre Songmong under Baghmara C& RD Block.
Block Development Officer Baghmara C & RD Block, Pilot R Marak, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed the need for early diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. He urged the people to avail all the government schemes that are being implemented for the benefit of the general public.
Meanwhile a similar health mela was organised by Block Medical Nongstoin & Health Officer, Nongstoin Block which was attended by MLA of Nongstoin, Macmillan Byrsat.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Byrsat congratulated the Health Department and other line departments for organising the health camp and extending free medical services to the people of the area.
