Nongmensong assault case: Notices served to all accused

SHILLONG, April 22: Police have swung into action to nab the culprits of an alleged assault in Nongmensong with notices being served to all accused in the case.
The police also convened a meeting of a ‘peace committee’ comprising the Dorbar, VDP and other civil society groups of the locality on Friday to ensure that peace is maintained.
Officials have hailed the meeting as successful while asserting that all the organisations have assured to cooperate, as and when required, to maintain peace.
This incident took place in Nongmensong on Wednesday evening when a group of miscreants allegedly assaulted a man and his wife. Reacting to the incident, the Nongmensong Unit of the Khasi Students’ Union had demanded the arrest of all involved in the incident.
