Dy Speaker recalls Hill State Movement leaders

TURA, April 28: Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira has said that the present and the future generations should take inspiration from the tireless endeavours made and painstaking journey undertaken by the leaders of the Hill State Movement for the creation of Meghalaya.
Shira said this while paying tributes to the Hill State Movement leaders during a programme, which was organised as part of 50th statehood day celebrations, at Resubelpara Mini Stadium in North Garo Hills on Wednesday.
The Deputy Speaker, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that it is important that the contributions of the leaders of the Hill State Movement are etched in everyone’s minds as they will help Meghalaya become a progressive state.
Shira also informed about Meghalaya’s metamorphosis over the years and the feathers that the state has added to its cap in the last 50 years.
As part of the statehood day celebrations, the District Industrial Exhibition 2022, organised by the District Commerce & Industries Centres (DCIC), was also inaugurated by the chief guest
As many as 17 stalls, displaying local produce, were put up during the exhibition. As part of the programme, indigenous games were organised by the Sports and Youth Affairs department while the finale of Voice of North Garo Hills was also held.
