SHILLONG, May 2: Former Health Minister and Pynthorumkhrah MLA, Alexander Laloo Hek, formally launched the yearlong celebration of his 25 years’ journey as an MLA representing Pynthorumkhrah Assembly Constituenc on Monday, when Hek turned 59.
The MLA’s birthday was also celebrated on the day Bellefonte, Lumshyiap.
For the past many years, Hek has been celebrating his birthday with people belonging to the marginalised group.
In his brief speech, Hek said that it was a momentous occasion for him to be able to officially declare the launch of the yearlong celebration of his 25 years’ journey as an MLA on his 59th birthday.
Hek along with his wife, A Nongsiej, cut his birthday cake, which also marked the launch of the yearlong celenbration, in the presence of BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie, Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco and others.
Blankets and gifts were distributed among the residents of various localities under Pynthorumkhrah Constituency, besides ASHAs and Angandwadi workers.
