MAWKYRWAT, May 11: Amidst heavy rainfall, the three-day 8th South West Khasi Hills District Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2022 organised by the office of the District Sports Officer (DSO), Mawkyrwat at Saitsnad Playground, Mawlangwir, near Mawkyrwat, kick-started on Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, C Kharkongngor gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
The meet was also part of the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence as well as the celebration of 50 years of Meghalaya statehood. Nine schools from different parts of the district participated in the Inter-School Athletic Meet, 2022.
Speaking on the occasion, Kharkongor expressed pleasure that despite the inclement weather different schools took part in the event with high spirits. She said that sports is as important as education if use effectively.
Also, the opening ceremony of the 27th West Khasi Hills District Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2022 was held in Nongstoin, on Wednesday. The three-day athletic meet scheduled from May 11-13 features a total of 12 schools and 486 athletes from the district participating.
