SHILLONG, May 12: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the state government will move to complete the process of actually implementing the roster system following which the various departments can go ahead with recruitments in accordance with the roster system.
Sangma asserted that the state’s job reservation policy will be implemented as per the newly-adopted roster system.
He added that the government will finalise the details of the appointments that were made from the point in time when the quota policy came in or when the cadres came into existence.
“If the departments are able to work out such details then they can go ahead with the recruitments,” he stated.
The CM made it clear that the matter would not return to the court since it has given instruction that every department will have to ensure that the roster system is applied.
“Some departments can do it by tomorrow, but bigger departments having much more numbers and a long history may require a week, 10 days or even a month. As soon as they finish their internal exercise they can go ahead with the appointments,” he pointed out.
Speaking on recruitments in the Police department, the CM said the same process will follow. “As soon as the Police department works out the details of all recruitments that have taken place in the past and put them in the rooster system from day one they can start the recruitment process.”
It may be pertinent to note that the High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday dropped the suo motu proceedings on the preparation of a roster regarding the implementation of the state reservation policy but said the injunction restraining further recruitment will continue until the previous occupants in the relevant posts have been identified.
