Odisha crowned women’s hockey natls champs

Bhopal, May 17: Odisha notched a thrilling 2-0 victory over Karnataka in a closely-fought final to be crowned champions of the 12th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship here on Tuesday.
Punam Barla (34’) and Ashim Kanchan Barla (59’) were the two goal scorers in the summit clash.
The match had gone into halftime with the scores reading 0-0. Punam opened the scoring in the match in the third quarter as Odisha picked up the lead. Ashim then sealed the game with a late goal. (PTI)
