SHILLONG, May 22: The State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been directed by the central brass of the party to strengthen its prospects before the state goes to polls next year.
“We had all India state office-bearers meeting at Jaipur in Rajasthan chaired by our national president JP Nadda and central leaders and Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi joined us virtually. Discussions were held for state who are about to go for state Assembly elections,” said state BJP chief, Ernest Mawrie, who returned from New Delhi on Sunday.
“In December, Gujarat and Rajasthan elections will be held. Our leaders have given the suggestion on how to go about the elections. For our state, they gave us many directions and things to be to be completed before the elections to strengthen the party,” Mawrie added.
The state BJP chief said, “We have to strengthen (the party) starting from the district, state mandal up to polling both levels. We are doing it. On the 25th of this month, we are taking the state executive members along with state office-bearers, morcha heads and district presidents to attend the meeting.”
Mawrie claimed that the State BJP is growing in strength and the acceptability for the party has increased, while adding that many mandals are in the process of being created or would be created in future.
“Our work at the grassroots is going on in full swing,” he added.
