TURA, May 28: The state government will create more housing complexes for low-income and middle-income groups.
This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Saturday during the inaugural programme of the new office building of Housing department, in Dakopgre, Tura.
Tynsong, in his address, reiterated that the state government’s commitment to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the state.
Referring to the creation of mini secretariats in all district headquarters, Tynsong said the government is also contemplating constructing mini secretariats at subdivisional level.
He also stated that the first mini secretariat will come up in Tura followed by Jowai whilst construction of the mini secretariats for other district headquarters will be taken up phase-wise due to financial constraint.
Tynsong also touched upon important developmental programmes taken up in the state.
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe, on the other hand, stressed on the importance of infrastructure in workplaces.
Referring to the accommodation facility available in the district, he suggested that more houses for low and middle-income groups should come up in the district.
Director of Housing department, David D Sangma, on the other hand, spoke about the schemes being implemented by his department.
