‘Went to collect belongings’

SHILLONG, June 2: A day after objections were raised against retired Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), Vinod Kumar Singh, for allegedly attending office despite retiring, the retired CMD on Thursday clarified that he had only gone to collect his belongings, papers and personal files from his office the previous day.
“I did not attend my office as alleged. There is no ban on entry of a CMD to collect his belongings after his retirement. I remain as the CMD till midnight of May 31,” said Singh, who retired from his service on May 31.
Reacting to reports that he was allegedly functioning from the branch office at Guwahati, the former CMD said that it is the Ministry of Power that decides from where the CMDs or Directors function.
