Child molester sentenced to five years RI

Tura, June 23: A child molester from East Garo Hills, who committed the crime on an 8-year- old minor way back in 2013 has been sentenced to 5 years rigorous imprisonment and fined an amount of Rs 10,000.

According to East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Bruno A Sangma, the case involves Women PS Case No 01 (01) 2013 U/S 3543 IPC R/W Sec 10 of POCSO Act 2012 in which one, Ajaybirth Ch Marak was the accused. The accused was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody following an FIR filed against him on January 24 of the same year.

The accused was found guilty on June 31 this year and awarded the sentence by District and Sessions Judge/Special Judge POCSO, M Skhemlon.
