Inzaghi extends coaching contract with Inter Milan
Milan, June 22: FC Internazionale Milano on Tuesday announced that Simone Inzaghi has signed a new contract with the Serie A club to remain as head coach until 2024. Simone Inzaghi won two titles in his first year in charge of Inter, defeating Juventus both times to secure the Supercoppa Italiana as well as Coppa Italia trophies. In a video released by Inter, chairman Steven Zhang said that Inzaghi would stay for “two more years” after extending his current deal with the club by a year. Before Inter, Inzaghi had already won the Coppa Italia once in 2018/2019 and the Supercoppa Italiana twice in 2017 and 2019, all whilst in charge of Lazio. (ANI)

Tévez signs coaching contract with Rosario Central
Buenos Aires, June 22: Carlos Tévez was hired Tuesday as coach of top-tier Argentine club Rosario Central after announcing his retirement as a player earlier this month. Both Rosario Central and Tévez confirmed the move on social media. The club tweeted that the 38-year-old Tévez has a 12-month contract. Tévez played for both Manchester clubs – United and City – in the Premier League. His successful career also included spells at Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua. The striker won the Copa Libertadores with Boca in 2003 and the Champions League with Man United in 2008. Tévez played for Argentina in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. Rosario Central is currently 22nd out of 28 teams in the Argentinian championship. (AP)

Women’s PGA C’ship prize money goes up to $9 mn
New York, June 22: The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship is doubling the size of its purse to USD 9 million, another boost to the women’s game that brings prize money for the five majors to nearly triple the amount from a decade ago. The increase in prize money for the LPGA Tour’s second-oldest major is a 300 percent increase from 2014, the year before KPMG and the PGA of America partnered with the LPGA Tour to raise the prize money and the profile by taking it to fabled courses. The Women’s PGA Champion starts Thursday at Congressional Country Club, which has hosted the U.S. Open three times. The winner will get USD 1.35 million. The USGA signed up a presenting sponsor in nearly doubling the purse of what already was the largest of the LPGA majors, USD 10 million that paid USD 1.8 million to Minjee Lee when she won at Pine Needles. Deepika falters in World Cup Stage 3 qualifying round
PARIS, June 22: Star archer Deepika Kumari failed to impress in the qualifying round in her much-anticipated return, finishing a lowly 37th behind Ankita Bhakat in the World Cup Stage 3 here on Wednesday. The world number three Deepika, who was making her India comeback after the Tokyo Olympics debacle last year, shot a disappointing 638 in the 72-arrow qualification round, a massive 37-point behind Korean Lee Gahyun who took pole position in the women’s recurve section. Deepika will face Italian Chiara Rebagliati in her first round. At 31st place, Ankita (644) was the best among the Indian women as she made the mixed pair team with 27th placed Tarundeep Rai (670), with the duo taking the 13th ranking. Pravin Jadhav finished 30th with 668 points, while veteran Jayanta Talukdar (667) took the 32nd spot as the recurve men’s team secured the eight seeding in the draw. (PTI)
