SHILLONG, June 27: The Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya has decided to resume its indefinite protest from Tuesday after the state Cabinet ignored their demands yet again.
The teachers have decided to stage indefinite protests at the Secretariat in the city and the mini Secretariat in Tura.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had earlier assured them that a proposal for enhancement of the salaries of ad hoc teachers will be cleared within three Cabinet sittings.
In a statement issued here on Monday, FASTOM general secretary Andrew Lyngkhoi said the Cabinet met for the third time following the CM’s assurance but there was no discussion on their demands.
The federation is demanding a hike in salaries of the ad hoc teachers by Rs 18,000 besides a 5% increment every year.
