SHILLONG, July 13: Meghalaya has the highest female to male workers ratio at 169.8% among all the states in terms of professionals and technical workers, which is followed by Kerala (101.6%), according to the latest additional data of the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) for July 2020-June 2021.
According to the survey, among the legislators, senior officials and managers, Meghalaya has 44.8% female to male workers ratio. In this same category, Mizoram has the highest (70%) ratio followed by Sikkim (48.2%) and Manipur (45.1%), according to a government survey. Meghalaya has a 42.5% ratio of female of age 15-64 years in labour force to persons of age 15-64 years in labour force.
Mizoram has also the highest proportion of women occupying managerial jobs at 40.8% followed by Sikkim at 32.5% and Meghalaya at 31%.
The data showed that the ratio of female workers to total workers in usual status working in managerial positions was 18% at all-India level.
Similarly, the ratio of female workers to male workers in usual status working as legislators, senior officials and managers was 22.2%.
Meghalaya has 3.9% of female workers of age 25 years and above with highest level of education ‘graduation’ or ‘post graduation and above’ among total workers of age 25 years and above.
National Statistical Office (NSO) launched PLFS on April 2017. On the basis of the survey, 14 quarterly bulletins of PLFS corresponding to the quarters ending December 2018 to quarter ending March 2022 have already been released.
