SHILLONG, July 17: The road near the entrance to Bijou Cinema in Police Bazar was chock-a-block with cinephiles on Sunday as they eagerly made queues to purchase tickets to the new Khasi movie Ka Juk, which was released on Friday.
The crowd was so huge that police and CRPF personnel had to be rushed to the spot to control the mob pushing one another to get the ticket. The police had to use batons to manage the crowd to prevent any stampede.
However, the police managed to tame the movie-goers to stand in queue to buy the movie tickets from the counter. They even created a separate queue for women.
As a result of the thronging, traffic also came to a standstill for some time at Khyndai Lad area.
Ka Juk is directed by Kit Rina Nongrum and features Evansius Kharsohphra, Micky Lyngdoh, Birbol Basaiamoit and Keebor Kurbah as lead characters. Another well-known actor who was roped in for the movie is Sherilin Khongwar.
