NONGPOH, July 25: Peeved at the delay in the construction of Nongkhrah Polytechnic in Ri-Bhoi, the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Nongkhrah Nonglyngdoh has threatened to take back the land it donated for the purpose.
Speaking to media persons after inspecting the construction site, the Synjuk threatened to resort to the measure lest if the government fails to resume the construction work by the end of the year.
It may be mentioned that the land was donated by two Raids of Nonglyngdoh and Nongkhrah with a hope that this institution, once completed, will benefit the youths of Ri-Bhoi in particular and the state youths in general. However, much to their dismay, the project has been lying unattended for years now, ever since the beginning of the construction in 2018.
Alleging that the project has been abandoned by the contractor as the government has not released the former’s dues, the leaders have asked the government to ensure that the construction work is resumed immediately.
The leaders, following the inspection, also called on Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
