SHILLONG, July 27: A day after TMC leaders from Meghalaya protested in New Delhi against the interstate boundary deal between Assam and Meghalaya and the delay in the inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eighth Schedule, suspended Congress MLA PT Sawkmie has cast aspersions on the party for not raising the issue of Inner Line Permit.
Sawkmie, while reacting to the demonstration, said that the party has left the very important issue of ILP while protesting in the national capital.
“I want to ask TMC as to why they did not dare raise the issue of ILP,” Sawkmie said.
Claiming that the TMC will not include demand for ILP in their electoral manifesto, Sawkmie asked the people of the state to reject those political parties which do not include the matter of ILP in their manifestos.
It may be mentioned that Meghalaya Trinamool Congress MLAs on Tuesday staged demonstration outside Parliament on Tuesday, demanding the scrapping of the state’s border agreement with Assam. The legislators, led by former chief minister Mukul Sangma, also castigated the Meghalaya government for alleged massive corruption and all-round failure in governance.
