WJH farmers receive awareness

SHILLONG, Aug 8: The Research Extension Centre -Shillong in coordination with Sericulture & Weaving department on Monday organised an awareness programme for local farmers at the ICAR- KVK Wahiajer West Jaintia Hills.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by scientists, women farmers from Wahiajer and nearby villages, district officials, et al.
During the programme, farmers were apprised of the importance of chawki rearing, disinfection and maintenance of hygiene in rearing, practices of mulberry cultivation for quality production of mulberry leaves, government schemes for farmers, etc.
“It was emphasized to go for spring and autumn crops without fail to increase their income from Sericulture in a year,” the statement said.
