NONGPOH, Aug 9: Following complaints from various quarters, Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun along with officials of the Ri Bhoi District District Administration and Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong Byrnihat on Tuesday conducted an inspection at various locations in Byrnihat only to discern recklessly dumped garbage, including on the roadside of National Highway at Borbhuin and the weekly Byrnihat market.
It is pertinent to note that lack of a proper area for garbage disposal is one of the major problems that has been bedevilling the people of Byrnihat, who are resorting to disposing of garbage along the roadside and near Umtrew river.
It was also decided during the inspection that a letter will be soon submitted to the government for a proper landfill site.
