Father, son held over assault

SHILLONG, Aug 11: Police on Thursday apprehended one Firoz Khan and his 17-year-old son on the charges of assault of one Inder Kumar Rongpi of Karbi Anglong, Assam, and his two friends on Wednesday around 11 pm.
All the five persons were living in a rented house at Police Bazaar.
When contacted, police said that the two were arrested from their residence following an FIR filed by Rongpi.
In the FIR, Rongpi said that Khan and his son had returned to the house after installing medical devices at Smit Primary Health Centre on Wednesday evening.
Rongpi added that Khan and his son had started to use foul language while opening the gate of the premises as it was locked from outside.
According to the complainant, Khan held his colleague, Narayan Borah, by his neck and when he tried removing Khan’s hand from Borah’s neck, the father-son duo attacked him with repeated punches and some sharp weapons object in the head. “However, all of us manage to flee,” Rongpi said.
