Chief Secy stresses on MCS officers’ training

SHILLONG, Aug 19: Chief Secretary DP Wahlang has stressed on the importance of skilling, re-skilling, upskilling and capacity building of both junior as well as senior Meghalaya Civil Services (MCS) officers.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the Annual Conference of the Meghalaya Civil Services Officers’ Association (MCSOA) 2022 at the State Convention Centre here on Friday.
In his address, the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya talked about the importance of having empathy as an officer, and to understand the problems of the public when they come to them to share their hardships, even as he urged the officers to deal with the public with love, affection and empathy and to be grateful of the position and the power and privileges they have.
Encouraging the officers to get over the fear of failure, he said failure is part of the job as as officers.
The Chief Secretary also highlighted the need for financial planning for the junior officers so as to have secure savings when they retire. He also encouraged the officers to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Others who spoke included Dr Vijay Kumar, Commissioner of Division for Garo Hills, CVD Diengdoh, Secretary Personnel and AR department.
The Conference saw the participation of MCS officers from various parts of the state.
