Winners from 40 city institutes awarded prizes

SHILLONG, Aug 21: A total of 214 winners belonging to 40 different institutes from in and around Shillong were awarded the prizes during the prize distribution ceremony of the 48th annual cultural competition at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road, on Saturday.
Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, has been organising this competition for the last 48 years for budding talents of the region by providing them a platform to showcase their potential.
The event drew more than two thousand enrolments from 47 different institutes located in and around the city and around 15,00 students participated in the competition.
Chief guest of the occasion, Rudi Warjri, retired Ambassador, congratulated the centre for conducting the competition for 48 long years.
He noted that spiritualism was at its peak in India when colonialism was at its height mainly because of Swami Vivekananda.
In his address, President, Ramakrishna Mission, Singapore, Swami Samachittanandaji Maharaj, spoke about the importance of religion, relationships, education and above all culture in one’s life.
