TURA, Aug 22: Garo Hills-based deficit schoolteachers will wear black badges on Teachers’ Day as a mark of protest against state government’s failure to fulfil its promises made recently.
Announcing this, the Garo Hills Deficit School Teachers’ and Employees’ Association informed that the decision was taken during an executive meeting of the Association on August 18.
According to the Association, the Chief Secretary and the Additional Chief Secretary had assured release of 50 per cent revised arrears as well as the death-cum-retirement-gratuity (DCRG) of Rs 10 lakh in separate meetings with the teachers.
The promises, however, are yet to be fulfilled, the Association said.
It has also warned that the deficit teachers will resort to more agitations if the dues are not released.
