SHILLONG, Aug 22: An inquiry team instituted by state Director-General of Police Lajja Ram Bishnoi on July 21 to inquire into reports of misuse of police vehicles is yet to complete its task, in spite of the one-week deadline given to it.
A senior police official told The Shillong Times on Monday that the inquiry was taking time since some points needed additional clarification.
Bishnoi had constituted the team to probe into the alleged irregularities relating to non-registration of procured vehicles, issue of unauthorised petrol and diesel coupons and other related matters.
Inspector-General of Police (Law and Order) MK Singh is heading the team which also consists of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (ER) DNR Marak, Commandant of MLP 1st Battalion CA Lyngwa, SP (Anti-Infiltration) JG Momin and official in-charge of central workshops B Khongwir.
The committee has been asked to take immediate possession of all records connected to procurement and distribution of vehicles and all other connected matters.
