College gets new infrastructure

SHILLONG, Sep 2: The PG Block (South Wing), lift and auditorium of Sankardev College, Shillong, were inaugurated by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui during the grand finale of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the institute here on Friday.
The new infrastructure facilities have been funded under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) 2.0 and College Fund. Rymbui, who was the chief guest of the occasion, also felicitated the meritorious students of the college who secured positions in the NEHU examinations with the Academic Award of Excellence. Moreover, the College Anthem and the Diamond Jubilee Souvenir were also released on the day.
With their performances, the college students showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region which includes the traditional dances of different tribes and communities, especially the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo.
The six-decade-long journey of the college was depicted in a video presentation which highlighted various achievements of the institute from its inception.
In her welcome address, college principal Dr Eureka FP Lyngdoh recalled the achievements of the college and its journey since 1962. The vote of thanks was proposed by K Chyne, vice principal of the college, while the programme was hosted by MS Warjri and Dr R Nongrum, IQAC coordinators of the college.
Other who were present include officials from the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE), State RUSA Cell, president and members of the governing body of the college, principals of different colleges, and special invitees.
