NGH resident convicted under Arms Act, gets three years

SHILLONG, Sep 2: A resident of North Garo Hills, one Sadam K Sangma, was convicted by the Court of Albert W Lanong, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of North Garo Hills district, on Friday under Section 25 (1A) of the Arms Act, 1959, and sentenced to imprisonment of three years and was imposed a fine of Rs 5000.
Earlier on August 19, 2021, an operation was launched by a team of North Garo Hills Police as well as the SF-10 at Bajengdoba based on reliable information that an unknown person was seen carrying arm(s) in the area.
During the operation, a country-made pistol and cartridge were recovered from the possession of Sadam K Sangma.
Accordingly, he was apprehended and the pistol and cartridge were duly seized in front of independent witnesses.
The investigation of the case was done by Gautom R Marak, Sub-Inspector.
