Selection trials to represent MAA in NE Oly Games

SHILLONG, Sep 12: The Meghalaya Athletics Association (MAA) will be conducting selection trials in athletics for athletes to represent the association in the forthcoming 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 organised by the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 6.
The association, in a release, said that only residents of Meghalaya will be allowed to register for the trials set to be held at SAI, STC, Shillong, NEHU Campus from 6 am onwards, on September 24.
Participants may register online at https://bit.ly/3RZcrKZ in two individual events only. Chest numbers will be distributed on September 24 (Trial Day) at SAI, STC, Shillong from 6- 7 am to registered participants.
Original certificates of proof of age are required to be produced by the athletes. No other certificates will be accepted as proof of age.
Further, participants will be required to bring their own running shoes along with food and water. The association further stated that travel allowance/dearness allowance will not be provided.
The last date for registration is September 20.
Meghalaya will play host to the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022, scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 6.
The first edition of the Games was held in Manipur in 2018 with 12 disciplines. This time, the event will feature 18 disciplines – Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Wushu, Cycling, Golf, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
Approximately 4000 participants (athletes, technical staff, and volunteers) from the eight Northeastern states are expected to participate.
