Dry days
West Jaintia Hills and East Jaintia Hills District Magistrates have declared dry days on October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti, and on October 4 and 5 on account of Durga Puja. Meanwhile, all concerned have also been warned against failure to compliance with the order.

Programme
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad will organise ‘U Tirot Sing Best Student Award 2022’ on Thursday at U Soso Tham Auditorium. According to a statement, the programme will be attended by Nagaland Minister Temjen Imna Along Longkumer as the chief guest.

CPC event
The Central Puja Committee (CPC) will organise its 28th All Faith All Religion Get-together of Harmony on at 3:30 pm on Wednesday at Kench’s Trace Durga puja pandal. A statement in this regard informed that the programme will be attended by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma as the chief guest, leaders of all faiths and religions, among others.

Condolence
Members of the Sanatan Dharmasabha Harisabha, Laban, held a condolence meeting on Tuesday to mourn the demise of Biman Talukdar (Moloy Da), who passed away on September 20 due to an accident. He was a former general secretary of the Harisabha Puja Committee. The committee has decided to name the stage (manch) of Harisabha as ‘Moloy Manch’. Members offered floral tributes and observed a two-minute minute silence for him.

Award
Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Limited (LUMPL) has been declared as ‘Overall First’ by the Directorate General of Mines Safety for being the safest opencast mine in the Northeast. An award was also conferred upon to the LUMPL during the recently concluded 18th North East Metalliferous Mines Safety Week 2020-21 in Guwahati. Altogether, 13 mines from the Northeast participated in the Mines Safety Week 2020-21.
