22-yr-old drowns in SWKH river, body retrieved after four days

MAWKYRWAT, Sep 28: A 22-year-old man from Nongkdait-Nongtwah village, Nongnah, in South West Khasi Hills district lost his life after he drowned in Photlongon River while fishing.
According to locals, the incident took place on September 22 when the victim, identified as Syrpailang Sad, along with one Phailand L Rngaid from the same village had gone for fishing.
It was at about 9 am when the victim fell into the river and due to the strong current of the river, he drowned subsequently. His friend then rushed to the village to inform the locals about the tragedy.
After five days of arduous search-and-rescue operation, the police team on September 26 retrieved the body of the victim.
The victim is survived by his wife and his two-year-old daughter.
